Presentation of the book The Miró Eye

In one of his notebooks from the 1940s, Joan Miró jots down some of the projects he would like to pursue: "...create an album with beautiful photographs of objects that I have found and embellish it with a pochoir or a coloured lithograph, with a poetic text or poem, or even a poem of my own..."

In a sense, The Miró Eye, with text by Joan Punyet Miró and photographs by Jean-Marie del Moral, may be seen as the fulfilment of this wish expressed by Miró. Fantastical, grotesque, inhospitable objects and examples of popular art present a visual alphabet that documents and describes the artist's psyche.

The author of the photographs, Jean Marie del Moral, began by taking portraits of artists' studios in Son Boter, where Joan Miró had his studio in Palma, and here his poetic gaze underlines the importance of objects in Miró's work.

Joan Punyet Miró, Joan Miró's grandson and author of the accompanying text, portrays the evocative power of the objects with his words, highlighting the role of the studio as the artist's refuge.

The Miró Eye has been published by La Fàbrica in collaboration with the Fundació Pilar i Joan Miró, Successió Miró and Fundació Joan Miró. The presentation of the book has been programmed to coincide with the exhibition Miró and the Object, which will run until 17 January 2016.
