Comments

Drop of water on the rose-coloured show and Hair pursued by 2 planets are the titles of two paintings that were conceived together, as we see in the preliminary sketches held at the Fundació Joan Miró, even though they were painted one month apart. The motifs we see in these paintings are not exactly the same, but the connection between them, based on an interplay of equivalences, is fairly evident.

The most obvious of these equivalences are the reversal of the colours orange and green in the background and a series of carefully placed splatters. However, there are also subtler similarities, such as the placement of a focal element in the upper area (a star in the first painting and a luminous orange opening in the second) or the presence of tiny references heavy with meaning (the drop of water, in one; the hair and the planets, in the other).
