Joan Miró Prize

In recognition of exploration, innovation, commitment and freedom in present-day artistic work

Ignasi Aballí. Joan Miró Prize 2015

The Joan Miró Prize is awarded every two years by the Fundació Joan Miró in recognition of present-day work by artists who show the same spirit of exploration, innovation, commitment and freedom that characterised Joan Miró's life and work. First awarded in 2007, the prize-amounting to €70,000-is conferred by an international panel of judges made up of acclaimed professionals in the field of contemporary creation. At the award ceremony, the winning artist receives a diploma and a trophy, designed by André Ricard. The Fundació Joan Miró also puts on an exhibition of the work by the winning artist, sponsored by "la Caixa" Social Projects.
