Viewing of the painting Village and church of Mont-roig and yoga session in the North Patio
The evolution in Miró's oeuvre from his early detailist years to the stripped-down nature of his last works can be associated with the seven centres of human awareness corresponding to the body's seven centres of energy. These centres also go from the material to the most abstract level, from the most grounded to the absolute.
These seven centres help develop material, creative, life, love, communicative, observational and absolute awareness. Village and church of Mont-roig, which Miró painted in 1919, is the symbol and the origin of Miró's connection with the earth, from which the power of his material awareness arises.
Miró's connection to the earth is central to this piece; a man working the land with a hoe is the focal point of the painting. The main elements of the creation and the basis of our life are also present: earth, needless to say; water; the village as a shared space; the sky, and the sun. The earth, the land, is the place where we work, we experiment, and where the soul develops. A part of this growth is based on feeling that we are part of the earth, that we are part of the perfection of nature, but in balance with the material realm.
The session will begin with a visit to the Joan Miró collection, sharing a reflection on material awareness in connection with the painting Village and church of Mont-roig, followed by a session of asanas (physical exercises) led by a YogaOne by DiR instructor in the North Patio at the Fundació.
