Time recovered

n the framework of the Barcelona Architecture Week, and as a BARQ Festival collateral event, the short films made by 50 students from ETSAB and from Elisava during the practical workshop Architecture and Cinema conducted by Maria Mauti. After the screening of the short films, a round table discussion will be held with the participation of the authors, representatives of the Institutions that support the project, and personalities from the world of the University, Cinema and Architecture.

We will see the results of a didactic experience in filmmaking with architecture in which the film director Maria Mauti, with the support of the director of photography Ciro Frank Schiappa, guided 50 future architects and designers in putting the professional resources to take an initial idea through to the editing of a short film designed for presentation to the public on the big screen into practice.

The short films presented by Elisava about two highly cinematographic works, Parc dels Colors in Mollet del Vallès (Miralles-Tagliabue) and the Civic Centre in Els Hostalets de Balenyà (Miralles-Pinós), were both produced before the state of alarm. While the work shown by ETSAB, is a Mientras que el trabajo que nos muestra la ETSAB, is a significant testimony to the lockdown where architecture is seen from the windows. On no other occasion has the recovered time served as a guide to understand and represent a space that was lived in a totally " inner " way.

The proposal was carried out thanks to the collaboration of Antonio Pizza, Professor in charge of the subject "Architecture and Cinema" at ETSAB-UPC, and Professor Daria de Seta, Coordinator of the Space Area of the Degree in Design at Elisava.

This event and the works are dedicated to the two masters whose poetics were chosen as a frame of reference: the disruptive Catalan architect Enric Miralles (marking 20 years after his death) and the visionary Italian director Federico Fellini (celebrating a hundred years after his birth).

Organized by Fundació Mies van der Rohe, Fundació Joan Miró, ETSAB-UPC and Elisava, with the collaboration of Istituto Italiano di Cultura, Barcelona and Fundación Arquia.
