Lluerna: Carving Out a Place

The seventh edition of Lluerna revolves around the concept of "making space", a reflection on how we inhabit, remember, and transform spaces. This edition is part of the Espai 13 - how from here cycle, curated by Carolina Jiménez, and invites artists to explore memory, displacement, resistance, and symbolic spaces.

At the Fundació Joan Miró auditorium, five artists activate their projects through installation, performance, and video, fostering a critical dialogue on how we construct and reinterpret spaces.

Artists and projects:

  • Mireia Ludevid - Moure l'aigua a voluntat. By layering family archives with images of the construction of Francoist reservoirs, Ludevid questions official memory and its relationship with personal experience.
  • Sergio Marey - Torreiro. A performative installation exploring how Francoist repression silenced Galician traditional festivities, reinterpreting the torreiro as a space of resistance.
  • Elsa Casanova - La banalidad de hablar del tiempo. A performative lecture on meteorological imaginaries and the climate crisis.
  • Lorna Jordà - Una abraçada molt gran. An editorial and research project on the materiality of Rubí's landscape, mapping its affective and historical layers.
  • Miguel Alejos - Mecanismos de sujeción. A study of social housing and collective identity through video and archival research.

The session concludes with an informal gathering between the audience and artists at the Pati del Garrofer, accompanied by a complimentary beer courtesy of Estrella Damm, a sponsor supporting the initiative.
