Tsai Ming-liang retrospective

Tsai Ming-liang is an unclassifiable figure in contemporary Asian cinema. His work explores personal relationships, urban solitude and the perception of time based on a slow gaze and deep sensitivity. His career has been acknowledged at festivals such as Venice, Cannes, Berlin and Locarno.

On 8 June, after stopping by the Filmoteca de Catalunya, the Taiwanese filmmaker will present two of his most celebrated short films at the Fundació Joan Miró:

  • The Skywalk Is Gone (2002), a short that acts as a bridge between two of his most prolific features, and
  • Madame Butterfly (2009), which has never been screened before in Barcelona and pays homage to Puccini's opera on its 150th anniversary.

After the screenings, the filmmaker will join us for a 90-minute discussion led by members of the u22 team.
