Warhol-Vijande: más que pistolas, cuchillos y cruces (Warhol-Vijande: More Than Guns, Knives and Crosses)

An exclusive screening of a documentary film about Fernando Vijande and his relationship with the legendary Andy Warhol. Set to be released in cinemas on 31 October 2025, the film will bring to light the story of a pivotal yet unfairly forgotten Spanish gallerist,  a pivotal figure in the shaping of Josep Suñol Soler's collection.

Fernando Vijande was an exquisite, brilliant and contradictory character who had the audacity to put the Madrid art scene on the cultural map of New York in the 1980s. He also recognised that the two cities and their creative circuits were not as different as they seemed.

The documentary traces his story through the voices of artists, friends and collaborators who knew and worked with him. From Miquel Navarro and Alaska to Bob Colacello and Christopher Makos, from Fabio McNamara to Ágatha Ruiz de la Prada, they all share some memories and reflections on a figure who left a profound mark and is still missed today.

Its director, Sebastián Galán, accompanies us on a journey that connects New York, Madrid, Pittsburgh and Barcelona to explore all facets of Vijande's life, his unique relationship with Andy Warhol and his key role in Spain's cultural transformation in the 1980s.

The screening will be followed by a discussion with the participation of Rodrigo Navia-Osorio Vijande, president of the Fundació Suñol and son of Fernando Vijande; Sebastián Galán, the documentary's director; and the photographer Miguel Trillo.
