Lluerna 2026. A Rumor Beneath the Ground

Lluerna reaches its ninth edition as the Fundació Joan Miró's programme dedicated to emerging artistic creation. Under the title A Rumor Beneath the Ground, this edition proposes observing the present from the subsoil: attending to sedimented memories, invisible infrastructures, gestures, affects and materials that sustain the surface.

The central format of the programme is Studies on Stage: an experimental device situated between the studio visit and the stage. Ten artists present their research processes live. Performance, sound, installation, performative reading. What usually remains hidden - tensions, intuitions, conflicts - takes shape before the audience.

Programme:

4.30 - 6.00 pm Round table: Taking the pulse of the subsoil
A dialogue on the evolution of emerging art in Catalonia
With Manuel Segade (Museo Reina Sofía), Martina Millà (Fundació Joan Miró) and David Armengol (La Capella).

6.00 - 7.30 pm Studies on Stage I: Body, gesture and affect underground
Research exploring biology, affectivity and bodily memory as strata of resistance.
Miriam Martín López: traces a genealogy of the hysterical gesture based on archives of psychiatry and medical photography.
Laura Torres Brunet: uses cellular extrusion - the process by which cells embrace to maintain tissue integrity - as a metaphor for care and political survival.
Emma Prats i Castro: materialises how recognising the other allows us to appear within an affective volume, through gesture and language.
Lorenzo Galgó: tensions silence and sight through voice and folk song to activate sensory memory.
Esther Merinero: activates paper and methacrylate sculptures to address the weight, distance and fragility of bonds.

7.30 - 9.00 pm Studies on Stage II: infrastructure, matter and data underground
Projects that explore urban infrastructures, geology, matter and data systems.
Maria Roy Deulofeu: excavates the archaeology of Barcelona's soil through ceramics and poetry.
Cristina Sanuy: makes visible the hidden infrastructures beneath the city through technology and sonic listening.
Alida Maria Lanzi: constructs a live installation in which waste, liquids and rocks trace the relationship between body and environment.
Andrea Aguilera: reads the invisible processes of image and sculpture from the intimacy of technique.
Joely Lorenzen: immerses the audience in algorithmic intimacy and suspended digital imaginaries.

9.00 - 11.00 pm A shared rumour: listening experience and gathering of sector professionals and audience
The day concludes with a shared listening experience connected to the edition's lines of research, followed by a meeting space in the Patios de la Miró bringing together artists, invited professionals and attending audiences.
