House of the Future Tree
As part of the exhibition La poesia tot just ha començat and on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Fundació Joan Miró, this activity invites visitors to join a guided visit and a debate to select the tree that will become part of the Foundation for the next fifty years.
Artist Enric Farrés Duran proposes a route through different spaces of the Foundation to discover the trees that inhabit its surroundings and take part in a collective decision: choosing the commemorative tree that will take root in the gardens with future decades in mind.
Throughout the visit, we will explore the exteriors of Sert's building to learn about the species that coexist with the Foundation's architecture and the stories surrounding them. We will also visit the mobile installation in Gallery 21, where the artist will activate the pieces using archival documents and carob seeds, creating a play of subtle and shifting balances.
The experience concludes with a shared deliberation based on the participation ballots collected in the shop over recent months. With contributions from guests such as Guim Camps, artist and former tree climber, and Cesc Balanzó, arboriculture specialist, we will bring together criteria, imaginaries, and possibilities to decide which one will ultimately become the tree of the future.
This activity offers an approach to the museum that intertwines nature, archives, and participation, inviting visitors to leave a new green imprint on Montjuïc hill.
The tree will be planted at the end of June, coinciding with the conclusion of the events celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Fundació Joan Miró.
