First Listening Session of the A Permanent Rehearsal Programme: Ceal Floyer, Rocío Molina and Silvia Zayas

This will be the occasion to inaugurate the bleachers and platform created by La Cuarta Piel and to discover three sound pieces: an unpublished work that will remain available in the space, and two pieces that will only be installed that day.

The sound piece that will remain in the exhibition is by Silvia Zayas, an artist who works meticulously with sound so that it becomes somatic and penetrates the body. Una infiltración colectiva de cine are audio pieces created to produce mental images, both individually and collectively. It is a kind of bodily warm-up with consequences on the imagination. The audios humorously combine the format of guided meditation, physical training, voice, and a rapid succession of narrative flashes, allowing images to emerge and suddenly infiltrate like ghosts or visions.

Installed for one day only will be Til I Get It Right (2005) by Ceal Floyer. The work consists of a sound loop built from the song of the same title performed by Tammy Wynette. Floyer extracts only two fragments and removes the reference to love from the original song. This operation creates a repetitive soundtrack in which the romantic meaning disappears, transforming it into a meditative piece about perseverance and desire. The result is a bittersweet sense of enchantment.

Finally, the programme also includes the first minutes of Calentamiento, the latest production by choreographer Rocío Molina. In them, she explains that before beginning the warm-up, she will do a warm-up prior to the warm-up, in order to start warming up before starting. This refers to what in flamenco is known as a "tabla de pies," during which she states, "I am never going to stop beginning"; a strategy for never ending.
