Whispered
Imagine being in a space filled with loudspeakers broadcasting live a voice that surrounds us and whispers into our ear. Speaking softly as an act of resistance, of imagining other ways of expressing oneself through the body. A language that gradually loses its meaning to become pure sound.
Laura Llaneli explores the relationship between sound production and experience, language, and contemporary visual arts practices. Her works emphasize the impact that variations on stable patterns and structures have on certain cultural products; at the same time, they test the resilience of language as a code and of sound as a social icon. Llaneli is represented by ADN Galeria, and among her awards are Art for Change 2019, the Miquel Casablancas Award 2018, and the Embarrat Award 2017. She currently lives and works in Barcelona. She studied music and holds a diploma in Graphic Design. She has a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Barcelona and holds a master's in Sound Art and a master's in teacher training from the same university.
