tsuki love
Embracing the fragility and tenderness of first times, characteristic of many of the proposals shaping this programme, Nazario Díaz will carry out an opening of the work process of tsuki love, an action that will be shared for the first time in Barcelona at dawn on June 21.
Tsuki love delves into the idea of absence, the mark, and what remains, through the initial image of a blow to the heart. Nazario Díaz intertwines tsuki, the basic punch in shotokan karate, with texts by his friend Teresa Ves Liberta, a Portuguese trans choreographer and poet who passed away in 2024, to whom the action offers a kind of homage. Alongside her poems, there are notes written in personal diaries, as well as the song by ANHONI and the Johnsons Fistful of Love (2005), whose title translates roughly as a handful of love.
Later, at midday, as an extension of the gesture from which tsuki love emerges, Nazario Díaz will activate materials from Ritó Natálio's project Spillovers, a transfeminist glossary guiding the experience of an imagined community of lovers who summon the body, eroticism, and somatic experience to confront ecological violence and to produce water.
Nazario Díaz develops his work mainly within the performing arts, focusing on the tension generated between body, gaze, and writing. In recent years, he has participated in various collective learning contexts such as the Master's in Performing Practice and Visual Culture (Madrid, 2016-2017), PICA (Azala, Vitoria, 2018-2019), Invitación (Bilbao, 2019-2020), and PACAP5 (Forum Dança, Lisbon, 2021-2022), exchanging methodologies and tools from the fields of dance and visual arts. He is currently developing Conversation pieces with the sound collective Metal performers, together with Basque choreographer Isaak Erdoiza-an investigation into sound-related questions within the choreographic field-and Otro borrado a través de la insistencia, within the framework of the Advanced Programme for Creation in Performing Arts curated by João Fiadeiro for Forum Dança (Lisbon). From these experiences arise the pieces fuego verde (BAD Bilbao, 2021) and amanecer alto cielo (Azkuna Zentroa - Alhóndiga Bilbao, 2024).
