Senyorseñora en fuga
What gender is an abstract painting? And a museum? Is blue feminine? How white is a white cube? This guided visit-workshop led by Jesusi Jeleton starts from the differences and imbalances between the artwork and its museographic presentation. First, we will pull threads to try to reorient ourselves and move between the visible warp and the invisible weft of the exhibition Joan Miró. Circles. Then we will draw momentum from gender and other forces to escape into dissident spaces.
Jesusi Arpal. Trainer and artist. As a trainer, they develop critical interventions from sex/gender dissidences through an intersectional perspective, especially in institutions, organizations, and companies. They have been part of the artists' collective Jeleton since 1999, together with Gelen Alcántara, where they revisit European cultural repertoires through a skewed lens using texts, drawings, and performances. Among these is the performance Dialogue of Drawing and Nature, in dialogue with the exhibition Paul Klee and the Secrets of Nature at the Joan Miró Foundation in Barcelona in 2022. Between 2013 and 2026, they were a worker-member of the cooperative La caníbal, an anticapitalist, transfeminist, and antiracist bookstore and cultural production space. In 2025, they published the collective book I Could Burn You with La caníbal, proposing critical reflections on the museum and its pedagogies.
