Slowly Sprouting

"I work like a gardener . . . Things take their natural course. They grow, they mature. You have to graft things on. You have to water them, as if they were lettuce." Joan Miró

This quote by Joan Miró is the starting point for a dynamic visit that will explore the artist's connection with nature. Discovering what surrounded him in Mont-roig del Camp will be the common thread for studying the colors, shapes, textures, and techniques that were part of his creative process.

Purpose

  • To stimulate students' creativity based on Joan Miró's artistic techniques and processes.
  • To understand the growth process of plants.

Objectives

  • To observe, identify, and highlight the different elements of the environment: materials, objects, animals, plants, landscapes.
  • To identify the surrounding nature based on observable criteria.
  • To use intuition, improvisation, imagination, and creativity in both observation and listening, as well as in artistic creative processes.
  • To experiment with the visual and plastic qualities of materials, and with spatial and compositional intervention.
