Espurna is an educational project with audiovisual language as the core of its structure. It takes an overall look at the various realms of knowledge in the secondary school curriculum associated with language, art and technology, as well as social and personal studies. Through the challenge of creating an audiovisual piece, the teenaged pupils involved learn about community, identity, gender and other issues.
Weavers projects
WEAVERS are educational projects pursued by the Fundació Joan Miró’s Education Department with schools in the neighbourhoods in the Sants-Montjuïc district that are closest to the foundation: Poble-sec, Font de la Guatlla and La Marina del Port. These are neighbourhoods with a diverse wealth of social, educational and cultural agents keen to weave networks to reduce inequalities between citizens and to create an active community that is responsible towards its environment. These projects are included in this fabric with the aim of contributing to educational equity by means of culture and education working in tandem. In order to foster values of peaceful cohabitation on the basis of respect for identity and diversity, educational innovation practices have been taken on board, fostering interdisciplinary work and raising the importance of the artistic process in every area of learning. These projects are pursued by the entire educational community - pupils, teachers, families and local agents - working co-operatively and adapting the projects to the needs and requirements of their beneficiaries.
