Joan Miró Exhibits in Barcelona

Between 1931 and 1935, Joan Miró showed his work in five exhibitions at different locations in Barcelona: his own home, Josep Lluís Sert’s home and the Syra and Catalònia galleries. These exhibitions, lasting only a few hours, offered visitors the opportunity to see the artist’s latest paintings and sculptures, which would travel to shows in Paris, New York or Zurich just days later. "Without ADLAN, these works would never have been seen here," wrote Sebastià Gasch in 1934. And perhaps without having first shown them in Barcelona, Miró would not have felt as confident about presenting the same pieces in some of the most important venues of international modern art.
