Miró’s art travels to Shanghai
To mark the Fundació Joan Miró’s 50th anniversary, the artist’s work will be presented in the Shanghai underground as part of the exhibition Joan Miró: Art as an Essential Language as well as in a discussion at the Cervantes Institute in the Chinese city.
Under the title Joan Miró: Art as an Essential Language, the exhibition can be visited from 5 December 2025 to 31 March 2026 at the centrally located Middle Longhua Road station (lines 7 and 12) in Shanghai, in a gallery open to the public featuring large-scale reproductions of Miró’s iconic works, carefully adapted to preserve their original scale, colour, and texture.
Moreover, on 4 November at 7 pm, there will be a discussion at the Cervantes Institute in Shanghai with Marko Daniel, director of the Fundació, and Shen Qilan, a Chinese curator, writer and academic. Moderated by the art historian Wang Xiaoyin, the conversation will focus on the enduring relevance of Miró’s work and the Fundació’s efforts in preserving and disseminating his legacy.
