What’s new at the Miró in 2026?
The Fundació Joan Miró will make architecture the backbone of its 2026 programming, a year that coincides with Barcelona being the World Capital of Architecture and with the second part of the celebration of the Foundation’s 50th anniversary. The aim of this initiative is to position architecture-not only as a building or style, but as a way of life, a method of organizing territory, and a vision for the future-at the center of the cultural debate.
This gesture stems from the legacy of Josep Lluís Sert and will unfold through several key elements: a new presentation of the Collection, creating a dialogue between Joan Miró and Sert’s architecture; the first monographic exhibition in Spain of artist Kapwani Kiwanga, winner of the ninth edition of the Joan Miró Prize; the first major retrospective of Charlotte Perriand, dedicated to one of the few women who worked at Le Corbusier’s Atelier and a friend of Sert and Miró; and a public and social program that collectively reclaims architecture as a tool to reflect on the present, interpret the past, and project new cultural horizons.
