Miquel Buades. Beyond the Retina: Textile Installation
Textile Installation by Miquel Buades at the Fundació Joan Miró’s Espai 10
On Wednesday 4 April, Miquel Buades inaugurated the exhibition Textile Installation at the Fundació Joan Miró’s Espai 10.
By removing textiles from their everyday context, he creates a lyricism enclosed in a rigid metal structure that provokes a series of ‘wounds’ in the materials with which he works.
Emotional art, as Miquel Buades says, is to conquer one’s own freedom as an artist, who until now has been limited in his aesthetic and technical development by working with textiles in a classical manner, with classical elements: white wool. Despite the beauty of his previous works, he has therefore enclosed or imprisoned them within white canvases: hence the ‘wounds’ that he captures on the fabrics, from now on shifting towards a search for new forms, both in the way he works with materials and in his expression.
Buades is seeking a new aesthetic with iconoclastic elements with which he can convey a different idea of the environment from that previously conceived.
The exhibition can be visited at Espai 10 until 29 April.
