Merche Hoyos Serra: Sculptures
Sculptures by Merche Hoyos Serra at the Fundació Joan Miró
The exhibition Sculptures by Merche Hoyos Serra opened on Wednesday 30 January.
Merche Hoyos Serra began working on the exhibition at Espai 10 with fibre cement panels: rigid, corrugated, cylindrical, etc., for which she had to study the process for manufacturing cement. She chose this material because it is a fundamental part of our environment.
In order to give these moulded pieces of fibre cement the shapes that the artist wanted, she used other materials such as iron, wood, mirrors, etc., materials that in themselves are charged with strong symbolic connotations, allowing Merche Hoyos to express what she feels and wants to capture in her works.
The exhibition will run until 17 February.
