Ester Baulida: Tenda de lona mora (Purple Canvas Tent)

The third page of the Bloc de fragments, presented at Espai 13 of the Fundació Joan Miró, is written by Ester Baulida with Tenda de lona mora, an exhibition of objects and drawings running from 14 January to 14 February 1993.
The works in this exhibition emerge from Ester Baulida’s reflections on her immediate surroundings, an environment shaped, like everyone’s, by everyday objects we rarely pause to consider. By appropriating and altering them, the artist imbues these seemingly ‘ordinary’ items with an unsettling sense of discovery.
However, her interventions always render the objects unusable. She transforms bottles and chairs into sausages, breaks plates only to reassemble them and creates drawings from fragments of her found objects.
The result is a collection of newly conceived objects within a private and personal world – objects that, like an X-ray, expose the customs and secrets of our daily lives.
The exhibition will open on Thursday, 14 January, at 7.30 p.m. in Espai 13 at the Fundació Joan Miró. |
