23 Artists for Doctors of the World

The humanitarian organisation Doctors of the World, in collaboration with Éditions de la Tempête, has brought together a collection of prints by twenty-three contemporary artists to be presented at the Fundació Joan Miró in Barcelona.

23 Artists for Doctors of the World is a travelling exhibition that was shown at the Orangery of the Senate building in Paris in June 1994, bringing together a collection of twenty-three prints by artists such as Alechinsky, Balthus, Boetti, Louise Bourgeois, Chia, Chillida, Cucchi, Dimitrijevic, Fischl, Hoyos, Jenkins, Katz, Lichtenstein, Matta, Paladino, Plensa, Rauschenberg, Rosenquist, Rotella, Sicilia, Tàpies, Venet and Wesselmann. After being shown at the Fundació Joan Miró in Barcelona, the exhibition will travel to the Centro de Arte Reina Sofía in Madrid, the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo in Seville and the Museo de San Telmo in San Sebastián.

With this project, Doctors of the World, an organisation founded fourteen years ago in France and ten years ago in Spain, aims, in the words of one of its members, ‘to overcome the shame and indignation caused by human suffering and to try to shake off the indifference of a world in which, despite everything, we know that what is happening should not seem strange to us.’

Proceeds from the sale of the exhibition catalogue and prints through Boza Editors will go to the organisation.

The media presentation of the exhibition will take place at the Fundació Joan Miró in Barcelona on 29 June at 12.30 pm, in the presence of some of the artists participating in the exhibition, as well as the president of Doctors of the World in Spain, Pilar Estébanez, and the curators of the exhibition, Maria Lluïsa Borràs and Lluís Boiria.
