Espai 13
1997-98 Invisible Circles series
As part of the Invisible Circles series, which Espai 13 is hosting during the 1997–98 season, the Fundació Joan Miró invites all artists to participate in the Espai Obert call for entries, running from 14 to 31 May 1998.
The call is open to all artists working in the field of visual arts. Submissions may include painting, sculpture, drawing, photography, installations, video works and performance-based projects requiring direct artist intervention.
Invisible Circles explores various interpretations of our physical and social environment. The introductory text on the series is available free of charge. The Fundació Joan Miró encourages all potential Espai Obert participants to visit the exhibitions and engage in the series activities so that their submissions respond to the themes under discussion.
Guidelines:
The jury will assess submissions based on the following criteria:
- Relevance of the work to the theme of the series.
- Use of an experimental artistic language.
- Small dimensions, to allow the Fundació Joan Miró to accommodate as many pieces as possible (for reference, the maximum size accepted in the previous edition for canvas-based works was 70 × 100 cm); for performances, technical feasibility of execution.
Participants are responsible for all costs related to their involvement, including the transport and installation of their works, as well as personal expenses.
While the Fundació Joan Miró will take the utmost care in handling submissions and artworks, it cannot be held responsible for any accidental damage.
Interested artists must submit their applications by 15 March 1998, along with visual documentation of the proposed work. Slides are preferred, but photographs (maximum size 15 × 20 cm) will also be accepted. For unrealised projects, a written description (maximum one page) must be included. Video works should be submitted in VHS format. A brief CV should also be included.
Artists selected in the previous edition are not eligible to participate.
Once the selection process is complete, applicants will be notified of the jury’s decision by post. They will also receive details regarding the delivery date for selected works and the schedule of programmed activities.
