Reincarnation V: To Eat. Xavier Olivé and Joan Brossa incarnated by Laia Fabre and Liminal
Smell of food, flowers and festivity. In 1982, the Foundation held an Itinerant Dinner organized by Xavier Olivé and Joan Brossa with a menu made up of the following delights:
While in the early 1980s, these had the flavour of circus celebrations, artistic rebellion and transvestite glamour, what defines the tastes of present-day Barcelona? Perhaps chewing on the images that Olivé and Brossa gave us and then digesting them will allow us to embrace, from the stomach, a desirable, festive future in which textures and tasty colours abound for all palates.
Replicating the structure of a four-course menu across different spaces of the Miró Foundation, this Reincarnation transforms the Itinerant Dinner into an invitation to delve into the museum's inner depths, shaping a symbolic itinerary that speaks of a desire for transformation. Drawing from the characteristic aesthetics of the original performance, marked by pomp and elegance, a white swan appears on stage to remind us of the possibility of living in fantasy. On its wings, food becomes language and malleable matter that breaks, is chewed, digested and sweated out in a popular, open-to-all celebration where the only imperative is an alliance with metamorphosis.
