Tintin in Barcelona. Homage to Hergé. Tintin’s Imaginary Museum
Tintin came to Barcelona many years ago.
His adventures are the legacy of several generations. Now is a good time, however, to celebrate our connection to the world of Tintin and to pay tribute to his creator, Georges ‘Hergé’ Remi. This is the goal of the Tintin in Barcelona exhibition.
Tintin’s Imaginary Museum underlines all the cultural wealth that can be found on the pages of Tintin’s albums. We travelled the length and breadth of the planet with Tintin and his friends, effortlessly learning about geography or ethnology while making scientific discoveries.
Thanks to some simple yet meticulous drawings, the world seemed rich and attractive to us. Seeing some of the real objects that inspired Hergé is the way to discover this wealth and rigour, and now we have the opportunity to do so in Barcelona. We must extend our thanks to the Palais des Beaux Arts in Brussels, the creator of this Imaginary Museum, as well as the Ethnological Museum in Barcelona, whose pieces have significantly enriched the exhibition.
Discovering the rich cultural roots of Tintin’s adventures is in itself a tribute to his creator, Hergé. But we wanted to add another, more explicit homage, so we asked a number of artists – graphic designers and cartoonists – to express their personal tribute to Hergé in a work of art. The result is this collection of originals, which will provide a personal touch to this Tintin in Barcelona.
We would like to thank Caixa d’Estalvis de Catalunya for sponsoring the exhibition.
So come and immerse yourself in discovering the small details that subtly provide richness and consistency to the stories and characters of Tintin’s world and join us in the tribute we want to pay to Hergé in Barcelona.
