Joaquim Gomis, first chairman of the Fundació Joan Miró board, was an avid traveller and photographer, as has been shown in this space dedicated to his voluminous archive. On this occasion, we present a selection of photographs he took during his stay in the Southern states of the United States between 1922 and 1923.
A very young Gomis was sent to Texas, the main producer of cotton in the country, to learn about the cotton industry which was also his family's business back in Barcelona. His photographs show aspects of this important sector, but also leisure moments of a society built around cars and segregation.
