Winter Camp at the Miró

The Winter Camp at the Miró is a space designed to stimulate interest and curiosity by looking at contemporary art in an experimental and creative manner. Working alongside two groups of artists, children will discover new ways of looking at things, thinking and expressing themselves, combining art, play and learning.

Programme

22 December with Valentina Alvarado and Silvia Renda

Morning – Forest of Light audiovisual and plastic arts workshop
Forest of Light is a workshop that invites you to discover how plants can be transformed into images, footprints, shadows and colours. Using leaves and textures collected from our surroundings, we will create prints, photocopies and projections to build a bright, ever-changing forest together.
From direct contact with nature to translating it into projected light, children will switch between collecting, copying and projecting while recognising that every image is also a form of caring and listening to what surrounds us: the plant world.

Afternoon - Cinema
Selection of films inspired by nature and colour.

23 December with Estel Boada and Xavier Michel

Morning – Smell the Stars performance and plastic arts workshop
The aroma of the Mediterranean accompanied Miró on all his travels. The moon and the sun want to know how they can make a new garden grow at the Fundació. What if we became rosemary, mint or basil? Which song would help us to germinate? Could we count on the moon to find the magic formula?

Afternoon – Theatre
Children will prepare the posters and programmes for the Eclipse stage show. The show will be held in the Fundació's auditorium at 5 pm and is open to the public. Admission is included for children from the Winter Camp and if families wish to attend they can buy tickets here.

Mediating artists and performers of the show

Valentina Alvarado Matos is a visual artist and filmmaker. Her work tackles issues related to memory and territory by engaging in a dialogue with the materiality of film, paper, voice and ceramics. Her practice, akin to collage, weaves reflections on diasporic identity, memory and landscape.

Silvia Renda is a visual artist and editorial designer. Her work explores the relationship between images and the collective imagination, challenging the visual codes that perpetuate stereotypes and power dynamics. She investigates archetypes and mental images in relation to identity and the sense of belonging. Her work takes the form of artist books, installations and pieces of expanded photography, integrating elements such as sculpture and sound.

Estel Boada Ibern, an artist of multifaceted nature, has decided to pass through a variety of disciplines that sail the seas of design, humour, drawing, performance, public space, collectivity and voice. She does not lean towards anything in particular and believes that everything can be an interesting story to tell with loudspeakers.

Xavier Michel is a French visual artist and performer who conducts performance work in which he manipulates sculptural tools in an absurd and poetic manner. This practice draws on theatre of objects, circus, dance and music, creating a polysemic and sensitive language.
