Idroj Sanicne: Miopies (Myopias)
Comunicacions. El vigor de l’efímer (Communications. The Strength of the Ephemeral) series
From 12 March to 26 April, Idroj Sanicne (Llofriu, 1966) presents Miopies (Myopias) in Espai 13 at the Fundació Joan Miró, as part of the exhibition series Comunicacions. El vigor de l’efímer.
Sanicne continues to work with objects made from synthetic leather, metal and other materials – pieces that clearly reference sculpture while also carrying strong perceptual and conceptual dimensions.
He calls them sobjects – a fusion of object and subject, blending the idea of a camera lens with that of a perceiving entity. These forms turn their gaze inward, suggesting a desire for isolation and protection. They are subjective objects, where the only sign of communication is their gradual opening over recent years. This process began with the addition of holes – eyes – that expanded their field of vision, an idea now fully explored in Miopies at Espai 13.
But Miopies is not simply about impaired vision. Instead, it suggests that there are multiple ways of seeing, different paths to clarity. This multiplicity enriches communication and, in turn, deepens self-awareness.
To express this, Sanicne places the viewer at Espai 13 between two spaces: a wall covered in sobjects, facing – or engaged in dialogue with – a large, monochrome and solid wall. For the first time, the sobjects emerge from their “blindness”, occupying a liminal space, on the edge of a new way of seeing – on the border of “myopia”.
And the process does not end here, nor is it straightforward. Jordi Encinas (Idroj Sanicne) embarked on this journey towards self-knowledge – or should we say, towards full vision? – by reversing the letters of his own name. In this sense, Idroj Sanicne is like one of his sobjects – an eye turned inward. |
