Espai 13 presents a new cycle that reinforces its vocation as an experimental space with sustained attention to emerging practices, which this year will expand with an approach to the relationship between architecture and contemporary art.

The curatorship is led by Alejandro Alonso Díaz, director of the artistic organization fluent. His cycle offers a perspective on energy and infrastructures, focusing on how their immateriality defines structural, spatial, and relational dimensions.

The artists in the cycle extend Espai 13's ties with the local scene while connecting with other geographies, strengthening this dialogue between disciplines and discourses. The season opens with Huaqian Zhang and concludes with Victor Ruiz Colomer, two of the most relevant Barcelona-based artists of their generation, and includes exhibitions by Michael Kleine and Ghislaine Leung, whose contributions continue to explore the circulation of energy through space and the structures that shape our existence. Alongside the four exhibitions that make up this Espai 13 series, the cycle is completed with an intervention in the Foundation's lobby by artist and Divided editor Camilla Wills.

Alejandro Alonso Díaz

Is a curator and writer. Since 2017, he has been directing fluent, a non-profit organisation dedicated to contemporary art. His practice considers the semiotics of energy as a site of contestation and a way of thinking through. He has developed research and curated projects for the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía in Madrid, Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian in Lisbon, Documenta 15 in Kassel, Fundación Botín in Santander and Foundation KADIST in Paris, among other institutions and museums. His writing runs the gamut of genres, mostly from theory to poetry, having been published extensively by e-flux, Sternberg Press, Mousse Magazine, Frieze, Concreta and Terremoto.
