Open Game

Open game is a collective cultural pedagogy project developed for the temporary exhibition Endgame: Duchamp, chess and the avant-gardes, which was staged at the Fundació Joan Miró. The aim of this project has been to generate a space for knowledge sharing and interaction, leading to a public return in the form of a presentation of the team’s work, highlighting the readings and discourses inspired by the exhibition.

Open game has materialised thanks to the research undertaken by a team composed of people from a variety of fields. This team consisted of four members of the Escacs Comtal chess club, a cultural mediator from Experimentem amb l’ART, a mediator from the Fundació’s Education Department, and an audiovisual producer.

Open game has been an open, horizontal process in which all the parties involved have been able to negotiate their role and their interests. The project has been constructed as an experimental field of learning with an open character.

The Fundació Joan Miró has promoted this initiative with the aim of forging a different, more inclusive relationship with its immediate environment, the district of El Poble-sec.
